I New Candys sono una delle band alternative rock più importanti uscite dall’Italia, tra quelle che hanno suonato di più all’estero negli ultimi anni. Nati a Venezia da Fernando Nuti (cantante e chitarrista) e Dario Lucchesi (bassista e tastierista), oggi comprende anche Emanuele Zanardo alla chitarra solista e cori, e Francesco Sicchieri alla batteria e sampler.
Sotto le etichette Fuzz Club e Dischi Sotterranei, si fanno riconoscere grazie a un sound oscuro e melodico, che mescola psichedelia, noise ed elettronica. La loro musica spazia da brani intensi e aggressivi a pezzi più intimi e introspettivi.
I loro concerti sono diventati un must per gli appassionati, portandoli a suonare in tutta Europa, Nord America, Australia e Nuova Zelanda, su palchi di festival come il SXSW, Treefort, Psycho Las Vegas, Levitation France, Fuzz Club Eindhoven e Liverpool Psych Fest. Hanno fatto da headliner al Sydney e Melbourne Psych Fest, e registrato live session per KEXP e Jam In The Van. Hanno condiviso il palco con The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Dandy Warhols e The Black Angels, suonando in posti iconici come L’Olympia di Parigi, la Roundhouse di Londra e l’Huxleys Neue Welt di Berlino. Iggy Pop li ha definiti “kinky” (eccentrici, provocatori), e alcune delle loro canzoni sono state usate in episodi di Shameless.

Indossando costumi da incubo e impegnandosi in “rituali” allucinatori, il loro sound singolare, che comprende psichedelia desertica, sciamanesimo post-apocalittico e folk rituale lo-fi, è unico quanto le loro esibizioni dal vivo che ci porteranno in un viaggio ipersensoriale verso mondi sconosciuti.
Dalla fusione di tradizioni arcaiche e avanguardie moderne nasce il suono che sembra provenire dalle viscere della terra.
I texani Ak’chamel si sono costruiti una solida reputazione come progetto teatrale avvincente.
Autori di circa quindici cassette, tre LP in vinile, diversi video VHS criptici, i loro filmati hanno generato milioni di visualizzazioni. Sono spesso in tour e si sono esibiti nei principali festival negli USA su entrambe le sponde dell’Atlantico, ottenendo l’attenzione della stampa di VICE, Consequence, The Wire e molti altri.
